Moving day
The moving day was both stressful and strangely
relaxed. The stressful part was that we did not know when we would get the key
and whether the owner was able to move out already on the first of November.
Since we didn’t really have another place to stay, it was important for us to
move in that same day. We finally made a deal: we could get the keys the same
day, but not earlier than 8 o’clock in the evening. We already had to be out of
our room, since there was a new renter coming in. The only thing we could do
was to wait a while in the living room of the previous flat. With all our
suitcases. It looked pretty ridiculous.
Moving our stuff, on the other hand, was beyond easy.
It was the most relaxed move ever. All we had to do was to roll our suitcases
to the metro and sit in it for twenty minutes, surrounded by all our stuff. We
were being looked at by two Spanish ladies, disapproving of the space we took
up. I was sharing my chair with a small suitcase and was already sitting quite
uncomfortably, but they had to add that “In Spain, we do not put suitcases on
chairs. We put them on the floor.” Ignoring the fact that the floor in front of
me was already taken by 4 suitcases…
A few stops later, we were there and we only needed to
walk a few minutes to our building. Finally, after sharing a teeny tiny room
for two weeks, we had our own apartment again! And a really really great
apartment! There was a enough space in the living room for a few happy dances
:-)
Sneak peek into the apartment
So, I’ll give you guys a little tour of the
apartment.
After the entry hall, where we have a lot of space to
store shoes (we don’t even have that many yet), you’ll see this hall way that
is connected to all of the rooms. On the left, a small room with a huge closet
(again, I don’t own not enough clothes to fill it with yet) and a desk with a
view.
On the right, our living room,
connected to the balcony. I love it so much! I also love that we finally have a
nice floor. Although the floor in our last apartment was also quite practical
(dark blue carpet: when you spilled anything, even red wine, it would just
disappear. Perfect for parties).
Some good luck and Dutch
spirit!
First breakfast on our
balcony
Our couch, it’s so
comfortable. Once you sit in this corner, it’s very hard to get out.
Next: our kitchen. It’s insane. It has everything, even a dish washer and a monster fridge/freezer combination. And again too much space for stuff we don’t have… yet ;)
The green color on the walls however reminds me a lot
of the one I chose for my room when I was thirteen…
These picture frames came with
the house. I don’t mind :-)
All that is left is our bedroom, bathroom and an extra room with a huge closet (which, again, is still quite empty).
Some views in the
evening:
(Un)fortunately,
we live right across a churreria. This weekend, Chris and I had our
first churros ever. And they are a-ma-zing. So good. Next week, we’re going to
try the chocolate covered ones (because fried dough with sugar just isn’t
unhealthy enough).
So
crunchy… mmm…
That was it for today! Tonight we’re going to Ikea
again to get a coffee table and, if I can find them, dish washing brushes!
(Because they don’t seem to sell them ANYWHERE here!)
¡Hasta luego!
Echt heel leuk!
