HOLLY SUSHI

Finally a food post! Maybe not very Catalan or Spanish, but still very good: Japanese restaurant Holly Sushi, close to the Diagonal Mar shopping center. Even though there are like a million restaurants here in Barcelona, I have been to this particular restaurant already four or five times in the past few months. It’s amazing what great food you can get for a little over 10 euros – I just can’t get enough!

The best time to go to Holly Sushi (or to most restaurants here) is during the week, at lunch time. For around 10 euros, you get everything included: miso soup, three (!) courses (plenty of choice), a dessert and a drink. As a starter, you could for example try the “rollo de salmón caliente”, fried salmon sushi rolls. For the second course, we usually take the fried rice with green tea and seaweed (impossible to eat with chopsticks, by the way). As a main course, you could get a whole plate of sushi and sashimi, or be wise and share this with your partner and take the Futo Maki with fried shrimps on the side, or the Japanese pizza. God, I am seriously getting hungry writing this post. We usually don’t go for a dessert, but there’s always room for coffee.

Futo maki - so good. Very big, though, and I always wonder how you're supposed to eat this. Cut it in two (this is how I do it, probably very wrong) or just cram it into your mouth?

The food is great, fresh, very tasty and extremely filling. And so cheap! The restaurant is open on Saturdays as well, but the menu costs a few euros more and drinks and dessert are not included (still a good deal though). Definitely worth trying if you’re getting hungry after a shopping session at Diagonal Mar or a day at the beach.
